The age of active adult is here.
A new Senior Housing News survey of 120 senior housing professionals reveals an industry intensely bullish on active adult — the age-restricted or age-targeted multifamily-style apartment product with no care component.
A whopping 87% of respondents are currently pursuing active adult apartment rental products, while 97% said the product will grow in popularity over the next three years. One senior housing company is even making a $1 billion bet on the product and selling its traditional senior housing to do so.
But with multifamily developers dominating the active adult space, senior housing must face questions about how to engage with that sector — whether to collaborate, or stake their own ground.
This report reveals the depth of senior housing’s interest in active adult, the execution of the product, the mindset of the consumer, and how these factors are re-writing the care continuum.
